In Greek Mythology, the Argonautic expedition is the name given to the expedition of Jason and his crew from Iolkos to Colchis in the Black Sea to get the Golden Fleece, which allegorically expresses the second historical great colonization of the Greeks in the Black Sea. This expedition was named after Jason's ship, the Argo, which in turn was named after its builder, Argo. The crew was named after the ship and they were called Argonauts.
